“I don’t think so about her”

Calle Halfvarsson sees the end of his long skiing career.
Unexpectedly, much younger national team colleague Frida Karlsson also does.
Now Halfvarsson gives his honest verdict on the Swede’s unexpected performance.

It has been speculated for years now. About the future of the veteran of the Swedish national ski team Calle Halfvarsson and how long he continues his career as a cross-country skier.

Already at the last World Ski Championships in 2023 in Planica, the 35-year-old considered putting his boots on the shelf for good, but still received new motivation and continued for another season. Now a new WC season awaits this winter when Trondheim will host the championship and then Halfvarsson will have a new message.

He has no plans whatsoever to retire, but has made a new plan for the future.
– Yes, if everything goes as it should, I will of course also drive to the WC in Falun. That’s the goal. That I drive over in 2027, he says to Aftonbladet.

The answer to Frida

This means that he will retire at the same time as his much younger national team colleague Frida Karlsson. She recently surprised many by revealing her plans to end her career after the World Ski Championships in Falun in 2027.

But it’s not something that Halfvarsson even believes in, but he shoots down that plan straight away.
– I don’t think she will, but we’ll see then. We get to retire together where me and Frida, then she will be a fairly young pensioner, he says to the evening newspaper.

Calle Halfvarsson really doesn’t see how Karlsson could retire already at 27, when she would then be at the peak of her skiing career.
– No, I don’t think she will. I’m not saying she won’t. But I have a very hard time seeing that she will do it. She is very successful now and I would guess that she will have a great WC in Falun. And that she would not want to invest further after that. I have a hard time seeing that, he admits in the interview.
