“I didn’t expect so many changes”: this is what happens to the skin when you stop smoking

I didnt expect so many changes this is what happens

The month of November is tobacco-free! The opportunity to discover the testimony of Célia, 25 years old, who explains to us all the physical changes she has noticed since stopping smoking.

I quit smoking in May 2024, I had been smoking since high school. Every day, I consumed at least 5 cigarettes, but this could increase depending on my program.

To quit, my first motivation was money. I couldn’t spend so much on tobacco anymore. I made some nice savings. Of course, there is another important reason: my health, especially because I have asthma. But I didn’t think about the physical changes this decision would bring to me. I must admit that I didn’t expect so many positive changes!

“Today, imperfections are much rarer”

A few weeks later, my skin gained brilliance. It was obvious. She was much duller before. I also had a lot of pimples on my face, I thought it was normal. Today, blemishes are much rarer and only appear during my period. My eyes are much less tired. My sense of smell has strengthened, and I must even admit that the smell of cigarettes on others bothers me. When I smell tobacco on someone, I can’t help but say to myself “ah so people smelled this smell on me when I smoked?”. There are other changes that I have noticed like the appearance and smell of my hair: I wash it a lot less, previously, I always had the impression that it was dirty. Honestly, I didn’t realize the effects of smoking on my physique at all.

“I have more time for myself”

I must also add that since stopping, I have more time for myself. If I add up the time of 5 cigarettes per day, I easily reach 30 minutes. Today, I devote them to sport. Besides, in terms of cardio, it’s much easier! Not to mention the fact that I get sick less often.

If I can share one piece of advice for people wanting to stop smokingI recommend reading the book entitled The simple method to stop smokingby Allen Carr. He helped me a lot in this process and I hope he can do the same for readers.
