“I didn’t expect more”

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

The Diablo 4 pre-order beta went offline again on March 20th and left a positive impression on a large part of the fans. We have summarized the praise and criticism for you in this article.

There are these reactions: The Diablo 4 beta was eagerly awaited and feared by fans of the series in equal measure. Before the beta, many were rather skeptical about D4.

After the end of the first beta test, the first positive voices about the game seem to be confirmed. In forums and on social media, fans share their joy about the gameplay of Diablo 4 and comment that Blizzard still has it. Here are some of them:

  • “[…] I personally got the game I wanted. Call me bootlicker […]but I’m just happy to play the game that Blizzard made […]. Blizzard seems to be back on form” – DogSoggy441
  • “For me it is almost a masterpiece. The aesthetics and the environment make me disappear into another world. It’s like reading a book […]” – rarifiedAyr
  • “The only thing that makes me sad this weekend is that we have to wait a full 2 months for the proper progression to start” – wegbored

“I will lose so many hours of my life to the game” – Gaming journalists like Jason Schreier are also convinced of the beta.

The forums are currently full of threads discussing individual features and suggesting improvements to individual elements that could make the finished game even better.

I didn’t expect that from Blizzard

How you voted: The test was also mostly positively received by the fans on MeinMMO. At 48.34%, almost half of you found the beta to be either “very good” or “good”. The proportion of clearly negative votes was 7.11%.

  • Very good: 25.54%
  • Good: 22.8%
  • It’s going ok: 10, 29%
  • Bad: 3.83%
  • not so good: 3.28%
  • However, 34.26% of you indicated that you haven’t been able to play the beta yet. Hopefully this part of the community will get its chance next weekend. The second beta test, which is open to everyone, starts on March 24th.

At the time of the evaluation, a total of 2,743 readers took part in the survey.

This is what MeinMMO readers say: In the comments under the live ticker and other articles, you have often shared your opinion of Diablo 4 with us. Above all, the “Diablo feeling” that is reminiscent of the old parts was positively noted. The gloomy atmosphere, the hopelessness of the world and the brutality would come across well again:

The game is really fun, finally something darker again. The first part alone up to the capital was simply epic in terms of the story. I didn’t expect that from Blizzard. […]

[…] It is fun. The story is dark and everywhere you can see the desperation, the turning to cults and the turning away of the light. It feels like a real Diablo. If the sound is retained, I would be really pleased. The right cutscenes alone are of much better quality than in D3. I’m looking forward to the launch in June.

In your comments, the mobile offshoot Diablo Immortal was also mentioned as a negative example. After the game received a lot of criticism and was not well received by many Diablo fans, some of you were pleasantly surprised by the D4 beta.

Diablo 4 would shine again with the classic gameplay known from previous parts. Thanks to the events, many quests and dungeons, you had enough content to tackle over the weekend.

[…] About the game itself: simply terrific, my expectations were very low after the Immortal debacle, I didn’t even want to pre-order it, but then finally got through to it. […]

    MeinMMO reader Higi

I was very positively surprised by the massive quest content. Didn’t think there was actually so much in the beta. […]

    MeinMMO reader Toni

    It feels like Lost Ark”

Nevertheless, there is criticism. In your comments, the main criticism was the empty world in which you walk a lot in the beta. Some of you also found the dungeons to be too monotonous and lacking in variety. The user interface was also not very well received. There is still room for improvement, according to your comments.

[…] The dungeons are all the same, extremely lame, unimaginative events, always the same layouts, hardly anything to discover. Nothing to really remember. The same applies to the NPCs (also mentioned by someone else here). Side quests really aren’t anything special either, to put it kindly. could have been left out. […]

Another point of criticism was voiced before the start of the beta and became even stronger after the test. Diablo 4’s new multiplayer aspect, the shared world, didn’t go over well with many fans. At best it offers no added value and is pointless, at worst it ruins the immersion and the gameplay.

The loneliness and abandonment of the earlier Diablo games doesn’t come across as well when there are other characters running around around you. Due to the new features such as emotes or titles, comparisons to the MMORPG Lost Ark also came up.

The UI is a disaster. It looks like a bad D2 copy of a mobile game and the scaling of various menus feels that way too. […] And the “MMO features” are, to say the least, completely redundant and have absolutely zero added value for me as a player.

    MyMMO reader NahYou

Unfortunately, Diablo 4 feels like Lost Ark to me. Lost Ark costs nothing though. I no longer play Lost Ark and have no interest in playing it again. Therefore unfortunately, unfortunately, UNFORTUNATELY I have to pass

MeinMMO-Leser VonGestern That’s what the fans at GameStar and GamePro say

This is how it was voted on: Our sister sites GameStar and GamePro also asked their readers what they thought of the Diablo 4 beta. Most of the answers are the same as yours.

While a large portion of people weren’t able to attend the beta, those who played over the weekend mostly voted positively.
