“I certainly don’t”

Niklas Wikegård has made his very last television appearance.
One of Swedish hockey’s biggest television profiles has said goodbye.
Then Wikegård strikes back against the biggest prejudice that everyone has.

It was almost 20 years as a TV expert and Niklas Wikegård has really left a big mark in Swedish hockey. He has always dared to be uncomfortable in order to create a good discussion that can develop hockey forward and he has never been afraid to say what he thinks.

Wikegård’s farewell

Many have praised Wikegård over the years and many have been upset with him. Still, that’s a pretty good rating for a TV pundit who’s aired his opinions for two decades on prime time.

He has reached the age of 60 and when the SC final was decided where Skellefteå AIK won the gold, the veteran said an emotional farewell in the television box. It was Wikegård’s very last broadcast as a TV4 expert and now a completely new challenge awaits.

Niklas admits

Niklas Wikegård takes over as sporting manager for Djurgården in the HockeyAllsvenskan and a huge job awaits to turn two consecutive final losses into SHL promotion.

Even though you’ve seen him a lot on TV, there’s still a lot you don’t know about the good Wikegård. Now he fights back against the most common prejudice that everyone has about him.
– It’s that I ALWAYS say what I think. I certainly don’t. But sometimes, he says with a smile in a television interview with Expressen.

He also reveals which dish he could eat for the rest of his life.
– Stewed macaroni with fried falu sausage. The sausage has to be very thin and have a small jacket in it so that it becomes flat, I can eat that every day, he says and also admits what he is most afraid of.
– I’m afraid of celebrities, then I always get nervous and get sweaty under my arms.
