“I can’t play this anymore”

Twitch streamer Tyler “Tyler1” Steinkamp loves and hates League of Legends. After two bad games, he explained how terrible Riot Games was and what a pathetic state the balance of LoL was in. He couldn’t play it anymore. The next day he tore off another 5 hours.

This is Tyler1:

  • In 2022 and all the years before, Tyler1 was the biggest League of Legends streamer. But in 2023 he played relatively little, the German NoWay4U has now passed him, and the 31-year-old is now the world’s largest League of Legends streamer on Twitch.
  • Tyler1 is known for his outbursts of anger: once he’s angry, he doesn’t leave LoL in a bad mood.
  • Such a phase occurred on November 28th. He raged against League of Legends and the developers Riot Games.

Tyler1 loses 2 times in a row: “Devs destroyed all my passion for the game”

What did he say? At the time of his temper tantrum, Tyler1 had lost 2 games in a row – mostly due to bad team members: he had a Taliyah in the jungle who only got 2 kills but died 10 times. His team’s top tally was 8 kills and 23 deaths. On the other hand, Naafiri (8 kills) and Graves (18 kills) excelled.

    This infuriated Tyler1:

“Guys, I’m going to be honest. I can’t play that shit anymore. The game is terrible, it’s just terrible. The developers killed it. Everyone’s in a bad mood when they play it.”

The balance was so terrible that it destroyed “any passion and playability” Tyler1 ever felt for LoL. In the future he might play a match on silver a day so that he has something for YouTube.

Even with the many changes from Season 14, nothing will change. Everything will be broken again there too. The developers would simply collect their paycheck. They could have him. Shame on them, shame on every one of them.

Said it and logged out of Twitch after about 4:30 hours.

Illaoi returns his love the very next day

So it went on: The next day, Tyler 1 logged back in and logged 5 hours into LoL. He played Illaoi top lane, dominated poor Alistar in the endgame, constantly flamed the opponents in the chat and shouted “top lane diff”.

At the end of the stream he stated that it was a good day. He gained about 150 LP. When he plays Illaioi, just run it. Only when he doesn’t get it is he “pissed off”, then he sees LoL for the game it actually is.

    Illaoi brings love back.

That’s what lies behind it. Tyler1 is exactly like any other LoL player here. His opinion of the balance and state of LoL depends heavily on whether he has won or lost his last few games.

Tyler1 has a strange relationship with LoL. He sees himself as “addicted”. But as much as Tyler1 hates LoL, the game provides a comfortable standard of living:
