Last year, three major fantasy series started streaming. Amazon ventured into the Second Age of Middle-earth with The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. HBO explored the Targaryens’ prehistory in House of the Dragon. And Disney+ returned to the Willow universe established in 1988.

Willow anno 2022 tells the continuation of the story in the form of a series. Warwick Davis is back as the eponymous wizard while a new generation of heroes has gathered around him. As Deadline found out, the adventure doesn’t go on – no green light for season 2.

The dismissal for Erin Kellyman is particularly bitter. After Solo: A Star Wars Story and The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, Willow is the third project from the Disney cosmos in which a return of her character seems impossible.
