“I am in deep mourning”: before her 90th birthday, Brigitte Bardot confides in her “not funny” life

I am in deep mourning before her 90th birthday Brigitte

On the eve of her 90th birthday, Brigitte Bardot opened up about her current life, assuring us that her daily life was far from the glitz.

This Saturday, September 28, Brigitte Bardot will celebrate her 90th birthday. The former sex symbol of the 1960s remains one of the last representatives of her generation of actors and actresses since the death of her friend, Alain Delon, in August. During a long interview with the Parisianwho now works for the animal cause, confided in us about her “not funny” life: “Now, I don’t walk at all anymore,” confided the actress, explaining that she gets around “with [ses] English canes”.

However, the one who was nicknamed BB assures that her health “has not gotten too bad”, while she had worried her fans in recent years following illnesses. Brigitte Bardot thus says in this interview that she continues to work and to move to her second house, in order to see “her big ones”, namely her farm animals.

But Brigitte Bardot “doesn’t want to laugh” and suffers “from a great mourning”. First, that of her animals. She explains that she no longer has a dog at La Madrague, her main residence. “It was a fusional love with him”, she explains, before specifying that she lost “two cats, including a little one who died today. You see, my life is not funny”.

The death of Alain Delon

But the former actress who turned the heads of Roger Vadim and Jean-Louis Trintignant is also haunted by another bereavement, that of her friend Alain Delon. The French actor died on August 18. The loss of his friend was a real blow for BB, “especially the way he left, in terrible conditions.”

She says he “was a prisoner in his own home.” “No one could enter that property or even talk to him on the phone, he didn’t answer the phone. The family decided everything. This last year was miserable. We never saw each other, but he called me regularly. We celebrated our birthdays, we called each other for nothing at all, just like that. He liked being alone, and so did I.”

She continues to be committed to the animal cause

While she talks about her support for the National Rally during the interview (“I support Marine Le Pen”, “Jordan Bardella, I think he’s great”), Brigitte Bardot also speaks at length about the animal cause, for which she continues to actively campaign within her Foundation. She spoke in particular about Paul Watson, an environmental activist from the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society arrested in Greenland on July 21, 2024, who risks 15 years in prison: “He must not be extradited to Japan,” assures the actress. “He’s going to die there. It’s a very harsh regime that doesn’t give any gifts. And prison, Paul is 73 years old…”

Fortunately, Brigitte Bardot continues to want to get up in the morning: “Each new day is a gift. I never tire of seeing all the little faces of my cats, of seeing my pigeons walking into my living room to visit me […] I enjoy all the happiness that surrounds me. All my survivors of slaughterhouses so happy to be alive…” She also hopes to receive as a gift, for her birthday, the end of the horse meat trade, one of her great fights for 50 years.
