In Baldur’s Gate 3 you can face the hardest level of difficulty. Honor mode is suitable for anyone looking for a tough challenge. But every small mistake can lead to game over. Unfortunately, one player had to learn this hard lesson in the hardest way possible.
What is Honor Mode anyway? For those looking for a particularly challenging experience, Honor mode is the perfect choice. In this mode you only have one chance to beat the game, with no option to reload.
So you can’t do save scumming. Any mistake, be it a bug or a careless click, can mean the end of the game. Every decision must therefore be carefully considered because there are no second chances.
Spoiler: The article contains major spoilers about Act 2 and a possible ending.
I am devastated
How did he fail? Player Gqd_King, who met his tragic end in Honor Mode and shared it on Reddit, had hoped to complete his run successfully. After winning the fight against Myrkul (end of Act 2), he wanted to explore a few more areas – including the mountain pass in Act 1 that he had skipped.
So he stood in front of the mountain pass and wanted to continue, but the Emperor was against it and warned him several times not to go back because that would mean his end. But without thinking, he clicked twice more, skipped the dialogue and probably thought that the dialogue couldn’t be important. This led to a direct game over and the end of his honor run.
“I’m devastated,” the user writes in his post, saying goodbye to his round in honor mode.

What’s the deal with Game Over? After defeating Ketheric in Act 2, you will no longer be able to return to the mountain pass. If you do, then you will experience one of the many endings in Baldur’s Gate 3. Because the Emperor no longer protects you and the Elder Brain finds you and you turn into a mind flayer.
