“I am concerned about the acute safety of children,” employees say about De Wijde Wereld

I am concerned about the acute safety of children employees

Response The Wide World

De Wijde Wereld is aware of the reports during the inspection. The director suspects that these reports are due to a “conflict with a former self-employed person”. She has the feeling that people “consciously want to put De Wijde Wereld and its employees in a bad light”. An old labor dispute with an employee would be the reason.

This piece was read before publication by all sources that RTV Utrecht spoke to. No one recognizes themselves in the passage about ‘consciously harming the Wide World’. They individually emphasize that they are concerned about the children.

The owner states that a lot has already been improved during and after the inspection process last year and that the organization is still working on it. She wants to downsize the organization in order to increase the quality of care. The inspection process has also been completed positively, she emphasizes. “We genuinely care about our clients and want to do the best we can for them.”

She says the following about the stories of the anonymous speakers:

  • The safety of medication is in order and everyone has the correct papers to administer it.
  • There is a sound acceptance policy for the children and we always check whether there is room or not.
  • In the event of major changes in the organization, tailor-made solutions are offered to children who need it, for example children with autism. “The success of the application of course depends on the output of the employees.”
  • Incidents related to supervision have occurred in the past. This was based on the fact that the problems of the clients were very diverse. This made it more difficult for guidance to maintain supervision and overview. This is limited by specifying the target group, so that supervision and overview can be properly guaranteed.
  • Everyone has a diploma or an SKJ registration, which is a kind of test whether someone meets his/her professional competence requirements. “Due to ‘the issues of the day’, it may be that giving feedback is too brief or incomplete. However, it is not an issue that things might go ‘wrong’ with the children in the organization.”
  • There was an incident in which a student was unable to submit a certificate of good behavior and always had an excuse for this. The agreement with that student has been terminated.

Healthcare and Youth Inspectorate

In general, the Inspectorate does not make any statements about the content of reports they receive. She also says nothing about current or future supervision. The inspectorate could not say whether De Wijde Wereld is embarking on a new trajectory.
