I am a teacher and here are the probable subjects

A few days before the philosophy baccalaureate, a teacher shared her predictions as to the subjects that students could work on this year.

The written exam for the philosophy baccalaureate is fast approaching for thousands of final year high school students. This takes place on Tuesday June 18 from 8 a.m. and lasts four hours. For this exam, candidates have the choice between two essay topics and a philosophical text commentary. In general, this is one of the tests most feared by students, particularly because of the essay topics which take the form of open questions. To answer it, students must know the notions of philosophy in principle and develop reasoned and coherent reasoning. So, every year, students and their loved ones wonder, with a little apprehension, what topics will be covered?

Although they are kept secret until the day of the test, this does not prevent some teachers from giving their predictions. This is the case of the teacher Caroline Giraud, known on the social network Tiktok under the name @carolinegiraudphi. In one of her videos, the philosophy professor shared the probable subjects for candidates for the general series baccalaureate. To do this, she first listed and analyzed the themes that have been covered in previous years since 2010. And based on this observation and current events, she put forward some hypotheses.

Since the baccalaureate reform in 2021, certain notions have not fallen as “work, nature, truth, conscience, freedom”, lists Caroline Giraud in her video, making it clear that these are only indications. Exception made for “art” which comes out almost every year. The teacher also advises students to review the concept of “duty”, which is always useful.

Finally, in relation to the news linked to the Paris 2024 Olympics and Euro football, it is likely that topics will fall around sport. “For philosophy, the only topics I think about are topics on technique and improvement, especially for the Paralympic Games. For example: ‘is the purpose of technique to improve us or to make life easier? ‘. Why not also a subject on work to address perseverance? she explains.
