“I almost stopped streaming” – German Twitch streamer tells how his viewers saved him

Metashi12 is now one of the most successful Twitch streamers in Germany, but his path to success was marked by setbacks and doubts. In a recently published TikTok, he speaks openly about his difficult beginnings and the decisive moment that saved his career.

Who is the streamer? Metashi12 has been streaming on Twitch since at least 2016 and has built up a loyal and steadily growing community over the years. In the last three months, an average of over 3,500 viewers watched his streams (via Twitchtracker).

He is particularly well-known for his streams of the popular MMORPG World of Warcraft, which he has streamed for an impressive 6,500 hours. The survival game Rust is also a regular part of his content, with over 2,000 hours streamed.

Even though it is the streamer’s main content, WoW has been declared dead several times:

Metashi12 is now one of the most successful channels on the streaming platform Twitch in Germany. He is currently ranked 27th, according to Twitchtracker. But his path to success was anything but easy. He too started from scratch and faced challenges that even made him doubt his career as a streamer.

What problem did the streamer have? Recently, Metashi12 posted a video on TikTok where he opened up about his streaming beginnings. The streamer says that in the beginning, he had trouble settling on a specific game or genre.

“I didn’t know what to play, not at all. So I played everything,” he says looking back. He mentions titles such as Counter-Strike, Diablo and League of Legends, but adds: “And it never worked.” Despite his efforts, the number of viewers stagnated at an average of 50 to 60, and he was unable to achieve a decisive breakthrough.

“Otherwise I’ll have to give up.”

What did the streamer plan to do? Even though Metashi12 now receives lucrative offers from Twitch and other partners, his situation was very different back then. His financial constraints led him to give up streaming. “I have to tell it like it is: I had a few people in the chat who saved my ass. They believed in me more than I believed in myself,” he says.

According to him, these loyal viewers support him monthly through subscriptions and donations. Metashi12 particularly highlights Dulrich, who donated over 500 euros every month to ensure that he didn’t stop streaming. “It was unimaginable,” the streamer recalls.

Despite this help, he was faced with a difficult decision: stop or continue? He set himself one final goal: “I’m going to try this for another month, otherwise I’ll have to give up.”

What happened next? Determined to make a change, Metashi12 asked himself the crucial question: “What game do I love and probably know better than anyone else here?” The answer was clear to him: World of Warcraft.

From then on, he streamed this game exclusively. “And this adjustment between WoW and the times just saved my ass at some point,” he says. After just one month, he had 200 viewers for the first time – a milestone that marked the beginning of his rise. From that moment on, his community grew continuously, and success was not long in coming.
