“I actually asked for it”

Erik Karlsson scored his first WC goals in twelve years.
But he was happiest about an unexpected delivery from home in Sweden.
– I can’t eat it that often anymore, he says.

Sweden’s back side during this year’s WC tournament has been called the best ever. Victor Hedman, one of the NHL’s best defenders in the last ten years, and the young superstar Rasmus Dahlin, for example, are included. But Erik Karlsson still gives the most stardom.

Big success

Last year he became the first defenseman in 30 years to reach 100 points in the NHL, and even though his first season with the Pittsburgh Penguins ended with an early vacation, he still belongs to the absolute top tier of defensemen in the world. And yesterday he showed what enormous quality he possesses.

After the win in the opener against the USA, Sweden won against Poland 5-1. Erik Karlsson not only scored his first World Cup goal since 2012, he also scored two in the match. Afterwards, however, Erik Karlsson revealed that he was happiest for a completely different reason – namely, a special delivery of something he missed during the season.

– Yes! Kalles Kaviar! That’s nice, he says to Expressen.

Unexpected joy

According to the newspaper, Karlsson will have three tubes sent down to the Czech Republic, which he will have on his egg sandwiches.

– I can’t eat it that often anymore. It only happens in the summer when you are at home. Now I thought we could run some Swedish stuff here and you can’t really get Kalle’s caviar over there, so I actually asked for that, he says.

Karlsson had not yet had time to cut into the tubes when the match was played, but he was looking forward to what lay ahead.

– No, it arrived today. But tomorrow morning it will be. Then you have to sit and fart on the bus. It’s going to be fun.
