One of the world’s largest automobile companies based in South Korea hyundaiis pressing the button to clean the Aegean Sea.

Sustainability, which started with the IONIQ models and spread to the entire model range, allows the exterior and interior parts of the vehicles to be made from recycled materials. In this context, Hyundai is trying to clean the seas and oceans around the world from waste, in partnership with the International Healthy Seas Association (Healthy Seas). Hyundai, which regularly removes plastic, glass, fishing nets and garbage from the seas every year, also gives life to the circular economy by using these waste materials in the cars it produces through recycling. The amount of waste that Hyundai removed from the seas last year was more than 42 tons, and 11 tons of this amount consisted of fish farming nets. The company, which decided to clean the Aegean Sea in the fourth year of its partnership with the Healthy Seas Association, will collect especially large fish farm nets and various plastics, starting from the coasts of Greece in 2024. “Tons of waste from the seas will be transformed into new products such as IONIQ 5, IONIQ 6 and mats made of Econyl yarn for the New SANTA FE.”
