Hyundai announced that it has developed two different IONIQ 5 N models for the Nürburgring 24 Hours and Pikes Peak Climb Races.
The statement from the company on this subject was as follows: “The Hyundai N brand is focused on renewing its successes at the Nürburgring, which is considered one of the toughest race tracks in the world. Aiming for its fourth consecutive TCR class victory in the Nürburgring 24 Hours (N24) race, Hyundai will bring a different dimension to the competition by sweating it out with a fully electric car. The company, which will try to overcome the challenging curves of the Nürburgring with the IONIQ 5 N, will also use the IONIQ 5 N-based Time Attack version in the Pikes Peak Climb Race in America. By collaborating with Gran Turismo, which is considered the most popular simulation game in the world, Hyundai N department is thus investing in the future of motor sports. The Pikes Peak Climb Race, which extends to an altitude of 1438 meters, also requires some additions and improvements to be made on the vehicles. IONIQ 5 N TA, specially modified for this event, produces 687 horsepower with its high-efficiency electric motors and battery. Developed faithfully to the IONIQ 5 N, this version increases its power with more operating system and software modifications. In addition, the N Active Sound feature has been improved and engine and exhaust sound is released at 120 dB.
