Nothing is going well! On the internet, entire discussion forums are now dedicated to what some are already calling “Cookiegate.” It all started when an Internet user, who presents himself as a big consumer of Oreo cookies, said he noticed less white cream between the small round cookies.
Immediate scandal! On social media, consumers film themselves comparing old Oreo boxes with new ones and show smaller or thinner circles of creams. “ The cost of living is increasing! OK, can’t I buy a house? OK ! But reducing the cream in the Oreos is going too far! It’s an abomination! », protests an Internet user.
Some Republicans accuse… Joe Biden
Has the recipe changed? Is there really less cream? The Oreo manufacturer assures us: the cream/cookie ratio has not changed. Statements which, however, were not enough to calm the anger of fans of these biscuits, of which at least 20 billion are sold each year in the United States.
Some blame inflation, which pushes some brands to reduce the quantities of their products – a process called shrinkflation. And it’s getting to such proportions that even some Republicans are getting involved, blaming it all on President Joe Biden. One thing is certain: in the United States, Oreo cookies are no joke.
