HyperX Alloy Origins 65 review

We look at the general features of the keyboard in our HyperX Alloy Origins 65 review content, which has a stylish design with quality materials.

Recently, the demand for smaller keyboards has increased considerably due to both minimal desk designs and the need for more space. We previously mentioned the advantages of such smaller keyboards in our HyperX Alloy Origins 60 review. HyperX has made some important changes in its new model according to the preferences of the users. Here we will talk about these features and the differences between the two models in our HyperX Alloy Origins 65 review content.

HyperX Alloy Origin 65 review

As the name suggests, HyperX Alloy Origins 65 is a 65 form factor gaming keyboard. In other words, it has a size of 65% of normal keyboards. At first glance, it seems to have the general design lines of the keyboards in this structure, but when we look at the details, I can say that it has very nice improvements even compared to the previous model, the Origins 60. There are no NumeLock keys, and the arrow keys that we see on TDK keyboards are positioned more specifically, reducing the size of the keyboard as much as possible.

In terms of design, a matte black coating is preferred and the material quality is really good. The keyboard, which weighs 820 grams with its cable, has a solid design and you feel how stylish the aluminum structure looks as soon as you hold it in your hand. Double-sided PBT key caps are used on the keyboard and these caps are protected against wear with a translucent design.

On the design side, my favorite points are the space and esc key caps. Just like in the Origins 60 model, alternative key caps are included for these two keys in the box. Again, a very good job has been done in these title designs, which have a space theme. You can use the titles as they are, but I can say that these two alternative titles manage to add a great color to the design.

At the bottom of the keyboard, there are three-level adjustable feet. Thanks to the feet, a use of 3, 7 and 11 degrees is offered. Wrist support is not included in such form factor keyboards, but I felt that it was absent a bit out of habit while I was using it. The Type C entrance is positioned just above. At this point, a wireless use support could have made this keyboard legendary, but unfortunately, it was only possible to use it with a cable.

HyperX has also used its own key switches in this keyboard model. Just like the Origins 60 model, HyperX Red keys were preferred. The touch feeling on the keycaps is very satisfying and offers a pleasant use both while typing and playing. Offering a pressure of 45g, these switches have 1.8mm of operation and 3.8mm of travel. In other words, it starts working when the keys are provided with a 1.8mm movement, and then there is a press distance of up to 3.8mm.

On the software side, you make the necessary customizations with HyperX Ngenuity. We mentioned this software in our HyperX Armada 25 and HyperX Cloud Mix Buds review content. It is positioned as a general software that develops gradually and you can access the features of all products.

On the headphone side, I had some problems, especially in the update part, but I have to say that the keyboard customization worked flawlessly. Compared to the old version, this software has come a long way, but there are also points that need improvement. You can make key adjustments and RGB lighting settings on the software. Also, this keyboard supports up to 3 profiles.

As a result, the fact that the keyboard comes with different key caps provides a nice touch in terms of design. I can say that I also liked the RGB lighting and the keypress feel. As I said, a wireless feature could take things to a very different point. The HyperX Alloy Origin 65 model has become a good alternative to the Origins 60 model with the return of the arrow keys. If you are looking for this type of form factor keyboard, you can take a look at both models according to your preference.
