US President Joe Biden has urged people to go to the emergency room.
Hurricane Milton, which is approaching Florida in the United States, has strengthened again into a hurricane of the fifth, or strongest, category, according to the US National Hurricane Center NHC.
At their strongest, Milton’s storm winds have blown nearly 74 meters per second.
According to the center, variations in hurricane strength are likely as the hurricane moves over the eastern Gulf of Mexico. However, the hurricane is expected to be dangerous and powerful when it reaches Florida on Wednesday evening local time.
Biden urges to leave the area
President of the United States Joe Biden has asked residents to flee the area and warned that the approaching hurricane could be the worst natural disaster to hit Florida in a century.
– It’s a matter of life and death, and that’s not an exaggeration, Biden said and urged those who have been ordered to leave, “to leave now, now, now”.
Florida is still recovering from Hurricane Helene, which left behind destruction in other states as well. The hurricane killed a total of at least 230 people and caused great material damage. It was the worst natural disaster to hit the continental United States since Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
