Announced at the Western University Affiliate Tuesday Morning, Fairfax Financial Holdings Ltd. Is Giving the Eight-Figure Gift-The Biggest in Huron’s 162-Year History-To pave the Way for What Will Be Called the Fairfax Center for Free Enterprise.
“This is going to transform our place in the poststecondary landscape. The First Center for Free Enterprise in All of Canada, and It’s Here, “Said Barry Craig, Huron’s President.
The Center Will Include Academic Components, Internships, Guest Speakers and Business-Networking Opportunities for Students, He Said. When asked if the center would be in its own building, craig hinted at further announcements and noted he foresees a place that will inspire Students to become entrepreneurs.

Prem Watsa is the Billionaire Chairperson and Chief Executive of Fairfax Financial Holdings, A Holding Company that Focuses on Insurance and Reinsurance. He was Named Huron’s First Chancellor in 2017. In a statement, Watsa Said he Believes Huron can lead “A Revival of Entrepreneurial Spirit that is Key to Our Shared Future.”
Watsa also Appeared by Video at the Announcement, Adding: “Huron Aims to Provide an Elite Level of Accessible Education, But also to Challenge its Students to become leaders with Heart, to use the opportunity that they are been give to make a positive different in the world.”
Huron Says Planning is underway to open the center in time for the upcoming fall semester.
