The annual event, held Dec. 28 at Sons of Kent Brewing Co. in Chatham, brought in more than $4,000 for Chatham Outreach for Hunger and Hope House – Mental Health Network of Chatham-Kent.
Both organizations provide community food support to those in need.
This tradition began in 2004 and has continued each year since, including virtually in 2020 and 2021. It has been organized the last 13 years by local musician Alysson Storey.
While different causes were supported initially, food insecurity became the focus the past several years, due to the growing demand.
“I could not be happier with the results,” Storey said in a release. “When one in five families are facing serious food insecurity in Chatham-Kent, to see the community come out so strongly to support our efforts to help, it means a lot.

“And to raise the most money yet, in just a few short hours, is incredibly heartwarming. And this will help a lot of people.”
Three bands took part, including 40 Hours Over, the Dave Trinca Xperience, and the Soul Remedy Orchestra, with musicians donating their time for the cause.
Tony’s One Stop Music Shop in Chatham provided sound and technical support.
Since fundraising was included in the event, nearly $40,000 has been raised for local community organizations. Sons of Kent Brewing and an anonymous donor sponsored the event, which had a full house in attendance.
