Only now did he reveal which famous children’s role once slipped through his fingers: He almost inherited Macaulay “Kevin” Culkin.

Josh Hutchersons, now 31, began his acting career as a child actor. For example, at the age of ten he played a seriously injured boy in Emergency Room and at the age of twelve he appeared in Zathura – An Adventure in Space. Now he revealed a defeat from 20 years ago in a Buzzfeed interview: He were almost part of the famous Home Alone series (Kevin – Home Alone series).

I was probably 11 years old, I think, when I auditioned for the Home Alone movies. In the end it was just me and this other actor left in the running. It was that first time I had to taste rejection. That was really hard.
The first film in the series, Home Alone, was released in 1990, two years before Josh Hutcherson was born. In this part as well as Kevin – Alone in New York, Macaulay Culkin played the famous role of Kevin McCallister. The continuation Home alone again In the mid-1990s, however, was looking for a young Kevin successor (this time named Alex) and ultimately snapped up Alex D. Linz (Bounce – A Chance for Love).
Josh Hutcherson is probably talking about this role when he talks about his Kevin setback. When looking at the bad reviews of part 3 (3.7/10 on Moviepilot), in retrospect the role that I didn’t get was perhaps a stroke of luck.
Josh Hutcherson finally achieved notoriety as Peeta in The Hunger Games series alongside Jennifer Lawrence, even though he later reflected that he would have gladly forgone the Hunger Games fame that came with it. Would his career as Kevin – Home Alone replacement have taken a different direction?
