Hungary’s president has signed Sweden’s NATO application

After Sweden’s NATO application was approved by the Hungarian Parliament on February 26 and then signed by the Speaker of the Hungarian Parliament on Saturday, President Tamás Sulyok has now also put his signature on the protocol. This is stated by his staff, according to Reuters.

Now the protocol will be flown to the United States where the American Foreign Minister Antony Blinken will receive it.

The issue has been on Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s table since 2022 – but after a protracted process, Hungary became the last NATO country to approve the Swedish application.
