Hungary does not give permission to continue anti-Russian sanctions.
BRUSSELS The EU ambassadors dealt with Russia’s exhaustion today. There was no solution, but negotiations will continue. On Monday, the EU exterior styles will deal with the matter.
Meeting sources think that Hungary is still accepting sanctions.
EU economic sanctions must be renewed every six months or will lapse. The deadline is now at the end of January.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor orbán stated in the December summit that Hungary would not accept sanctions before Donald Trump has started as President of the United States.
If Orbán was expecting Trump to overwhelm US sanctions, then it doesn’t seem to be doing. On the contrary, Trump threatens to tighten Russia’s sanctions if Russia refuses to negotiate peace.
The sanctions would also endanger the Ukrainian aid package, which is secured by the proceeds of Russia’s frozen funds.
