Addressing the Hungarian community at a festival held in the city of Baile Tusnad, a city in central Romania where Hungarians live in large numbers, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said that Europe was following US foreign policy at the cost of destroying itself by putting aside its own interests. Orban said that the balance of power in the world was shifting towards Asia and Russia, and that Asia would be the dominant power center in the world for decades, perhaps centuries, to come. Orban mentioned China, India, Pakistan and Indonesia as the great powers of the future, and said, “A change that has not been seen in 500 years is coming. What we are facing is a change in the world order.”
UKRAINE STATEMENT
Orban, who emphasized that Ukraine would never be able to realize its hopes of becoming a NATO and EU member, said, “We Europeans do not have enough money for this. Ukraine will return to being a buffer state.” Orban claimed that an agreement between Russia and the US would provide Ukraine with international security guarantees.
OLYMPIC GAMES STATEMENT: ‘THERE IS NO MORALITY LEFT’
Orban, who said, “The strongest international appeal of Russia’s soft power is its opposition to LGBT,” criticized Western countries for defending and encouraging LGBT. Orban, who said Christian values should be defended, said, “There is no morality left in the West. We saw this at the opening of the Paris Olympics.”
“We need to raise a flag under which brave, nationalist and young Christians can rally, instead of narrow-minded, delicate, avocado, latte, unadulterated liberals,” Orban said.
SUPPORT FOR TRUMP
In his nearly two-hour speech, Orban supported former President Donald Trump, the Republican Party’s candidate for the November presidential elections in the United States. Orban predicted that Trump would win the November elections. The Hungarian leader suggested that if Europe did not change its policy on Ukraine by then, the only thing Trump could do after his victory would be to accept defeat.
Orban, who claimed that Trump’s aim in being re-elected was to transform the US from a post-nationalist liberal state back into a nation state and that he was being punished for this, said: “That’s why they want to put him in jail. That’s why they want to seize his property. When all else fails, that’s why they want to kill him.”
Orban, known for his anti-immigrant views and criticizing Europe for becoming a “mixed-race society,” argued that the solution to the problem of a declining and aging population is not through accepting immigrants. Orban said, “There can be no question of replacing a declining population with immigration. The West’s experience in this regard is that when the number of guests exceeds the number of hosts, it is no longer a homeland. This is a risk that should not be taken.”
