A sick hedgehog now has to be transported another 40 to 50 kilometers to the nearest wildlife sanctuary. “That is much too far for such a weakened animal,” says Frederike. Dreaming about next year, she continues: “We hope to be able to collect sick animals with dozens of volunteers, care for them and then release them back into nature.
