About 350 patients in Region Jönköping received too high a dose of radiation when they were x-rayed before the insertion of a pacemaker at Ryhov County Hospital, reports Jönköpings-Posten.
The patients received approximately twice the normal dose of radiation. Four of them received a dose that may have given them a temporary redness of the skin, but for the other patients, the increased radiation dose is deemed to have had no consequences, according to the region.
The incorrect setting in the x-ray machine is believed to originate from maintenance of the equipment. The error was discovered in connection with a routine check, the newspaper writes.
The region has reported the incident to the Radiation Safety Authority.
