The candle wax comes from churches, restaurants and private individuals and is collected, among other things, in pipes placed in Järna where passers-by can leave their leftover candle stubs. The initiative has spread and the collection tubes are now also in Uppsala and Visby. The focus of the collection is on heat and in addition to the candle, medicine, clothes and equipment are also collected.
On site in Ukraine, the marshals are made by volunteers and school students.
Continued great commitment
The war will soon enter its second year and the commitment from the local community is growing every day, according to Örjan Lundström
– We see that the war continues and people die every day and more people realize that we have to do something to help. It is very clear in our business, the willingness to donate is enormous, he says.
