Humpback roller liberated from nets in the Baltic Sea
An almost ten meter long humpback whale has been liberated in the Baltic Sea after it is stuck in fishing nets in Polish water.
– The rescue effort was successful. The animal has been liberated, says Agnieszka Veljkovic at the World Wildlife Fund WWF in Poland.
Valks are rarely seen in the Baltic Sea because it is a fairly small area with some food for such large animals.
The humpback whales were discovered about 80 meters from the coast outside the city of Miedzyzdroje and Wolin National Park in northwestern Poland.
– The humpback whales were relatively calm. In the rescue operation’s second attempt to remove the networks, it seemed to understand that we had come to help and almost started cooperating, says Veljkovic.
Experts will now monitor the elections and hope that it will find out of the Baltic Sea via the Sound.
