What happens in Futurama Season 11?
Season 11 is set to follow the heartbreaking ending of Futurama season 10. There Fry (German voice: Dirk Meyer) and his sweetheart Leela (Marion Sawatzki) stumbled into an alternative timeline and spend a whole human life as a couple in love, before they are brought back by their friends.
Regarding the content of the new season, Collider quotes from the official synopsis of the US streaming service Hulu:
Decades-old secrets are uncovered. For example, the love story between Leela and Fry, the contents of Nibbler’s litter box, the story of the evil robot Santa and the whereabouts of Kif’s (Kai Taschner) and Amy’s (Shandra Shadt) children. In addition, there is a whole new pandemic to fight while the crew explored the future of vaccines, bitcoin, cancel culture and streaming.
Disney+ is bringing back the original Futurama heroes
Before the Futurama revival, tragedy initially threatened because the return of all the original voice actors of the main cast was not certain. Specifically, Bender spokesman John DiMaggio simply has to be there for many fans of the English version.
As Collider reports, he will now return after completing his salary negotiations. Whether too the German voices of all major roles represented again are, is unfortunately not yet clear.
When will Disney+ show the new Futurama episodes?
Disney+ releases the new episodes of season 11 from July 24, 2023 weekly. Initially 10 episodes will be made available one after the other, a second part with 10 more episodes will follow. Depending on whether the focus is on broadcast or production, the new season is either season 11 or season 8.
