Playing in the German HSV Anssi Suhonen the tibia is broken, HSV informs (you switch to another service). Suhonen injured his leg during rehearsals on Wednesday. The burger club, which plays at the second highest league in Germany, says the injury was due to an unfortunate situation at the end of practice.

Suhonen will go to surgery today, Thursday. The HSV release does not estimate the return schedule, but it is said that Suhonen has been on the sidelines “for a long time”.

Sport recently visited the 21-year-old Suho in Hamburg. The midfielder had had time to break into the opening line-up of the team fighting for the relegation this season. Suhonen also played in the semi-finals of the German Cup, where HSV bowed to the main league club Freiburg 1–3.

Suhonen, who started football in the juniors of the Järvenpää Palloseura, moved to the HSV Academy at the age of 16 from Käpylän Pallo.

This season Suhonen had time to play 18 matches in HSV’s shirt 2. Bundesliga. He scored two goals in them.

The final round of the Second Bundesliga will be played on Sunday. HSV is third, which would mean a place in the Bundesliga promotion qualifiers. There is a chance for a second and straight ascent if Werder Bremen scores. On the other hand, HSV has to win to secure a qualifier, as Darmstadt, fourth, is on a par with it.

Suhonen is an important piece of the Finnish national team under the age of 21. Finland still has a chance to compete in the European Championships for under-21s when three qualifiers are played in June. If the race place for people under the age of 21 gets out of hand, Suhonen would probably have a showcase in Huuhkaji already this summer.

– It would be a great honor to play for the A national team. I’ve been dreaming about it since I was little and now I’m just waiting for the invitation to come at some point and get me on the field to show off my own skills. I just talked about “Riven” (Markku Kanerva), Suhonen told Urheilu.

Suhonen’s injury is thus a bad setback for the Finnish national team’s under-21s. The first steps in the A-national team could also be postponed due to injury. Owls will play four League of Nations matches in June.

HSV or Hamburger Sport-Verein is one of the most successful clubs in Germany with six championships. HSV, the forerunner of the Champions League, won the European Cup in 1983. The club dropped out of the German main series for the first time in the 2017-18 season and has since sought to advance back to the Bundesliga.
