It’s a piece of shit, longer than two buses. The fish lizard lived in the water about 202 million years ago.
– No other marine reptiles, including turtles and crocodiles, grew as large as these animals, says Dean Lomax.
The girl’s unique find
The girl was on a beach in 2020 with her father Justin when they found the object. It was a jawbone from the aquatic reptile. A similar find had also been made by fossil hunters in 2016.
Now experts can confirm that both fossil finds are of a huge fish lizard.
– The jawbones give us hope that one day we can find a complete skull or a complete skeleton, says Lomax.
