The Danish police have not yet said what exactly the operation was about. The police are expected to release more information about the case later today.

The Danish security police PET has carried out a large-scale anti-terrorist operation in various parts of the country on Thursday, the Danish Broadcasting Company DR tells. The exact number of those arrested is currently unknown.

– The situation is as serious as it can be, Prime Minister of Denmark Mette Frederiksen said while answering media questions in Brussels.

The police confirm to DR that actions have been taken at least in Odense and Århus.

According to DR the police have recently cordoned off Aarhus Central Railway Station from all directions and started evacuations in the area. According to DR’s reporter, there are many heavily armed police and explosives units with dogs.

However, the connection to the ongoing anti-terrorist operation has not been confirmed.

The police have not yet said what exactly the operation was about. In August, the terrorist organization al-Qaeda incited people to target terrorist attacks in Denmark because of Korans burned in the country.

Danish police are expected to provide more information about the case later today.
