HRW: Saudi border guards shoot migrants

Saudi border guards are accused of killing hundreds of Ethiopian migrants and asylum seekers at the border between Yemen and Saudi Arabia, according to a report by Human Rights Watch (HRW).

The report is based on testimonies from 42 people and analysis of over 350 films and photographs.

According to HRW, border guards have systematically shot at migrants who have tried to cross the border into Saudi Arabia from Yemen.

“Saudi officials are killing hundreds of migrants and asylum seekers in a remote border area, which has no visibility from the outside world,” said Nadia Hardman, researcher on refugee and migrant rights at HRW.

The Saudi regime denies the allegations and claims that the sources of the report are not credible, a spokesman for the country told the AFP news agency.
