According to CNN’s special poll of more than 1,000 people from Ukraine and Russia on February 7-15, half of Russian respondents said it was right to use military force to keep Ukraine out of NATO, one-fourth said it was wrong, and the other 4′ 1 in ten said they were not sure.

MAJORITY OF RUSSIANS CONFIRM THE USE OF MILITARY FORCE

43 percent of Russians surveyed approved of the use of military force to reunite Ukraine with Russia, while 36 percent did not.

On the other hand, 70 percent of Ukrainian respondents opposed the use of military force by Russia to prevent Ukraine from joining NATO, and 73 percent to unify the two countries.

THE MAJORITY OF THE PARTICIPANTS OPINION THAT THE TENSION WILL RESULT PEACEFULLY

While only 13 percent of the Russian participants stated that their country will take a military action against Ukraine, 31 percent stated that Ukraine will attack Russia, 65 percent shared the opinion that the tension between the two countries will end peacefully.

While 43 percent of Ukraine believes that the tension will end peacefully, 42 percent think that Russia will start the war and 45 percent will not.

While 73 percent of Ukrainians surveyed believe that there are Russian soldiers in the Donbas, only 19 percent of Russians think that there is a Russian military presence in the Donbas.

While 64 percent of Russians share the view that the Russian and Ukrainian people are one nation, only 28 percent support this view, and 66 percent oppose the one nation view.

On the other hand, 54 percent of Russians stated that the two countries should be separate and 34 percent said that they should unite, while 85 percent of Ukrainians expressed their opinion in favor of two separate countries and 9 percent in favor of a united country.

While 71 percent of the participant Russians interpreted the Soviet Union positively and 9 percent negatively, 34 percent of the Ukrainians said that they saw it positively and 35 percent negatively. (AA)
