Oppenheimer, in which the famous director Christopher Nolan once again goes behind the camera, tells the story of one of the names that left a mark on us in history.
Firstly Oppenheimer movie There is no spoiler in our review, friends. In other words, apart from the trailer, we did not include any more annoying details than the already known details about the movie.
Is the Oppenheimer movie as good as it sounds?
Today, we were at the press screening of Christopher Nolan’s long-awaited movie Oppenheimer, by Cinema Lovers. Although I don’t want to spoil your excitement, I must state in advance that unfortunately, as those who came out of the movie’s premiere said, “We were speechless, It shook us, It’s Nolan’s Best movie!” Unfortunately, there wasn’t a movie that was good enough to be called.
The movie “Oppenheimer” is about the inventor of the atomic bomb, J. Robert Oppenheimer, who invented the atomic bomb starting from his student years. The life of the US Physicist, nicknamed “Owner of the Manhattan Project”, “Father of the First Nuclear Bomb” and finally “Destroyer of Worlds”, is told in a way we can say exactly in the style of Christopher Nolan. At certain points in the movie, we travel to the future time and at other points we travel to the past and witness the life of J. Robert Oppenheimer. This style of narration, which we can call a typical Christopher Nolan narration, although it does not bother me much, it may disturb some viewers.
The complex storytelling that is common in Nolan’s films is also evident in “Oppenheimer,” providing audiences with plenty of material to think about and make sense of. While the movie is quite enjoyable to watch up to a certain point, it starts to tire and bore the audience unbelievably after a certain point.
Unfortunately, the fact that the last part of the movie is made too long unfortunately reduces Oppenheimer’s already slow pace even more. For this reason, at the end of the movie, you feel as unsatisfied as you expected. I wish the last hour of the movie, 20-25 minutes, was explained in a much clearer and non-tiring way.
The cast of the movie “Oppenheimer” draws attention with their successful performances. Christopher Nolan made the best casting choices for his roles in this movie, as he does in every movie. I would like to open a separate title for Cillian Murphy, who plays the main character of the movie, J. Robert Oppenheimer. Cillian Murphy is already a well-known name with his acting skills. Oppenheimer continues to demonstrate this ability while portraying his character.
Cillian Murphy delivers a truly impressive performance in conveying the character’s inner conflicts and emotional complexity. By deftly portraying Oppenheimer’s efforts to cope with his career and its effects on humanity, he makes an important contribution to J. Robert Oppenheimer’s character development and the progression of the story, with his strong presence in the scenes as well as conveying the difficult decisions and spiritual questions of the character to the audience. The rest of the actors also performed flawlessly. I especially liked the performance of Robert Downey Jr, Emily Blunt and Matt Damon.
Christopher Nolan presented the quality of his cinematography to the audience in “Oppenheimer”, as he does in every other film. The atmosphere of the movie, the scene shots, the color palette used in the movie and the explosion scene of the real Atomic Bomb, which was eagerly awaited by the audience, were at a unique level.
When you think of Christopher Nolan movies, I’m sure you think of iconic music from every movie. “Rise” from The Dark Knight Rises, “Time” from Inception, and “Cornfield Chase” from the legends legend Interstellar… Each of them is a work of art for us movie lovers, but you should know that these musics were made by the famous composer Hans Zimmer.
Oppenheimer’s music is made by another composer. Just like in the movie “TENET”, Oppenheimer’s music is entrusted to Ludwig Göransson. Göransson, who also holds the Oscar for Best Film Score, composed some very good music for Oppenheimer. There is not a lot of catchy music, but there is goosebumps in certain places suitable for every scene.
To wrap up the subject, if you want to watch a quality Biography movie, I would definitely recommend you to watch Oppenheimer. But I specifically say, do not go with extraordinary expectations. You will be disappointed. Unfortunately, my expectation was more, since the director of the movie is Christopher Nolan. In conclusion, “Oppenheimer”, as I mentioned at the beginning of the article, cannot be called Nolan’s best film, but it is still a production worth watching.
