How to unlock the new Exo weapon “Microcosm”

In Destiny 2 you can get a new Exo weapon with “The Final Shape”: the Microcosm. You can find out everything you need to do to get the heavy trace rifle with kinetic element here.

What kind of weapon is Microcosm? The Microcosm is a tracer rifle in the heavy slot. The weapon has the kinetic element and can score points with the following perks:

  • Paracausal Imbuement: Finishing blows with this weapon grant Super energy. This weapon gains bonus damage once your Super is depleted.
  • Paracausal Beam: Shoots a beam of kinetic light, dealing massive bonus damage to shields.
  • The rifle is unique, as there has never been a trace rifle in the heavy weapon slot before. If you have the expansion “The Final Shape”, you should definitely get the weapon, as it can prove particularly useful against bosses and in fights against champions. It is also great for grilling shields.

We will now show you step by step what you have to do so that you can soon hold this weapon in your hands.

    All steps to unlock Microcosm

What do i have to do? Before you start the quest, you should have completed the campaign of “The Final Shape” and the Exo quest “Called Heroes”. It is important that you have fully unlocked access to the Pale Heart so that Micah-10 can give you her recovery quests.

You will receive the recovery quests if you complete them one after the other. If you have access to the patrol zones, you must follow these steps:

  • Complete the quest “Recovery: Rootbound”.
  • Pick up the quest “Recovery: Undergrowth” from Micah-10.
  • Complete the quest “Recovery: Undergrowth”.
  • There is a bug that does not register the progress when creating a mod. The bug can be fixed if you kill an enemy in the area.
  • Pick up the quest “Recovery: Vegetation” from Micah-10.
  • Complete the quest “Recovery: Vegetation”.
  • Pick up the quest “Recovery: Sprouting” from Micah-10.
  • Complete the Exo quest “Recovery: Emerging”.
  • For this quest step, you have to complete three tough missions from the campaign, which have an increased difficulty and new mechanics. You can find the missions on the Pale Heart map under the replayable missions. You have to complete the following:
  • Rise
  • Dissent
  • Iconoclasm
  • Important information about the quest “Recovery: Emerging”

The missions are tough and require a fireteam. Additionally, individual phases have “dark zones” that limit your revivals. So equip yourself with your best gear and find a squad.

  • Once all quests are completed, all you have to do is talk to Micah-10. She will give you the rifle.
  • All quests are easy to find and complete because you can select them in the menu under “Quests”. This will show you waypoints that will lead you to the important places. So mark your quests before you start so that you always know where to go.

How good is the weapon? The rifle is worth the effort. Especially in more difficult activities like nightfall or raids where equal damage types are important, you can ignore the elements with Microcosm. Every shield element from every faction is burned with the rifle. In addition, you deal massive damage if your ultimate is used up.

The weapon is therefore a strong alternative for all Guardians who do not want to use the Arbalest to specifically disable the shields.
