The CPU-Z interface is basic, but functional. The software opens on the tab CPU, which displays the name of the processor, its TDP, voltage, frequency, and other technical information. To perform a CPU test, select the “Bench” tab.
This tab is dedicated to the benchmark, that is to say the evaluation of processor performance. We advise you to leave the proposed benchmark version in the drop-down list, as the others are in beta version. Click on the “Bench CPU” button to start the test.
The benchmark begins with a multi-core test, then proceeds to single-core evaluation. Wait for the process to complete, which should take less than 20 seconds.
CPU-Z incorporates a database some CPU benchmarks, which you can compare your results to by selecting them from the “Reference” drop-down list.
To have more points of comparison, among all the references of processors on the market, click on “Submit and Compare”. This button sends your results to the servers CPU-Z and automatically opens a web page that displays a summary of your CPU’s performance.
Clicking on your “Single-Thread” or “Multi-Thread” score displayed on the right of the screen will open a page where a graph lists all the processors tested by CPU-Z.
You can thus check the score of your processor compared to its reference, or find out the performance gain you could benefit from by changing the chip. CPU-Z is also a good tool to evaluate the efficiency of a overclocking or undervolting. By performing a benchmark before and after applying the settings, you have a tool to objectively compare performance.
