The plants are affected during the summer

News24 have previously spoken to the plant expert Hans Jensen who shared tips to keep the tomato plants alive during the summer.

He then told Nyheter24 that tomatoes thrive in the heat, and therefore have good conditions during the summer. If it gets too hot, however, the tomatoes can also be negatively affected.

– The ideal temperature for tomato plants is between 20 degrees and 25 degrees. Extreme temperatures can negatively affect plant health and production, he said at the time.

For the tomatoes to feel good, they therefore need to be watered regularly.

However, tomatoes are not the only plant that needs regular love. When you come home from vacation, there is the risk that your garden plants have wilted, because they have not been cared for regularly during the summer.

Luckily, gardener Linda Schilén has visited News morningwhere she reveals an important trick to save the plants.

In the program, she explains that most plants in the garden need to be thinned, which in simpler terms means that they get a haircut.

“This is a danger to…”

For those who have apple trees, this is especially important this year, because there are unusually many apples growing on the trees.

– I have never seen so many apples on the trees before as there are this year. This is a danger to the branches, as they break off. There you need to go in and sift, pick apples, help and support branches, she says in the program.

If you don’t thin the branches on the tree, there is a risk that they will break, which is the nightmare of many garden enthusiasts.

But it’s not just the apple trees that need a cut. Cultivated vegetables and ordinary flowers also need to be thinned.

An example of such a flower is the dahlia, as it can become overbloomed if not cared for.

– On dahlias, you can tell if they are a little more elongated, then it has overbloomed. Then it must be cut off, she says News morning.
