At bac + 2 level, the DUT prepares in IUT (University Institutes of Technology) which are integrated in universities. The course for a DUT lasts 2 years. In alternation, the student will have the status of employee and will receive a remuneration whose minimums are regulated. The DUT alternation student will sign a tripartite contract between the host company, the school or the university, and himself. The two existing work-study contracts are:
- the apprenticeship contract, for young people up to the age of 29;
- the professionalization contract, from the age of 30.
