If in summer the plancha is a very popular accessory for making good meals, when it comes to washing it, it is no longer a pleasure at all. Yet there is a very easy restorer technique to clean it up effortlessly.
In summer, the plancha is ideal for cooking good, gourmet and balanced meals for all the family and friends in the garden. But the next day, it’s always the same problem, how to properly clean your plancha without too much effort and without spending an hour on it? There is a well-known trick among restaurateurs that allows you to turn this difficult and thankless chore into a quick and easy task. We explain how to proceed to obtain an impeccable result without spending money, without having to rub and without using harmful products.
How to use ice cubes to clean your plancha?
The principle is that of the thermal shock which will make it possible to take off the residues and the grease of the cooking encrusted on your plancha. For this, you will need ice cubes, a wooden spatula, a cloth (or paper towel) and white vinegar. Here’s how:
- The same evening, when your plancha is still hot, throw ice cubes on it. If you do it only the next day, you will simply have to heat the device again.
- Scrape off the dirt using a wooden spatula. You will see, thanks to the action of the ice cubes, they will peel off easily.
- Slide the residue to the grease tray.
- Once your plancha has cooled down, you can wipe it with a damp cloth with a little white vinegar.
Is this technique really safe for your device?
Using the ice cube technique to clean your plancha is not not always a good idea. If your plancha is made of enameled cast iron, beware of thermal shock by throwing ice cubes on it when it is still hot, this could cause the enamel to jump. The solution: pour ice water to help you loosen the grease and dirt, or wait until it has cooled down a bit to throw the ice cubes on it. Otherwise, to avoid any risk of damaging your device, you can also try another cleaning solution such as:
- White vinegar: on your still hot griddle, pour white vinegar. The residue will come off easily afterwards. The advantage of this technique: the white vinegar will make fish odors disappear.
- Baking paper: put a baking sheet on the plancha to make the appliance less dirty. Cleaning will then be easier.
- Dishwashing liquid: clean the plancha cold with lukewarm water and dishwashing liquid. All you have to do is pour this mixture on the plancha and rub, then push the dirt into the grease tray with a spatula before rinsing.
