Close the shutters, ventilate, grow green plants… There are plenty of tips for dealing with heat waves. Here are three, from the most natural to the most unusual, to overcome the heat without air conditioning.

A new heat wave is announced by Météo France this week for a large part of the country. Specialists even speak of a heat wave, with temperatures above 35° during the day and minimums around 20° at night.

To acclimatize to this high heat, without using air conditioning, here are some tips, natural and simple.

Ventilate the night, compartmentalize the day

These first steps are essential. The ba-ba to preserve freshness in summer. They come from a time when air conditioning was not about global warming, it was about money. They were handed down by the wisest among us as an inheritance: our grandmothers.

First, close the windows and shutters to the maximum, then pull the blinds. You will avoid bringing in the heat and will keep the freshness inside.

For more efficiency, in the morning as well as in the evening (and at night if possible), ventilate to renew the air. While waiting for the sun to rise or set, the weather will be milder and more pleasant. You will benefit from it in your interior.

Eat cold and look for greenery

Let’s assume that you followed these first steps of Grandma religiously, but that it is still too hot.

If you have a garden, it’s time to stock up on plants that can provide what you’re looking for. The best are those that climb. Your choice: passionflower or Virginia creeper. The list is not exhaustive. Green plants can also be a great help in softening the temperature of your interior. Are you hesitating? Opt for a ficus elastica or a sansevieria, quite simply!

In addition, hydrate yourself (is it really necessary to specify that it is essential to live?) and all the more during heat waves. Your body needs water, so consume it in all its forms: to drink (at least 2 liters a day during hot weather), to place on your forehead or on your pulse points.

Prefer cold meals, such as vegetable salads, and consume sorbet or smoothie.

    Consult a dermatologist online

    Sleep naked (but fully)

Goofy isn’t it? Not that much. The idea is to moisten the body and fall asleep naked in order to take advantage of the draft created by the opening of the windows caressing the skin.
