Have you ever suffered from mold infestation in your home? If so, you are not alone. Homes that are infested with mold can suffer from discoloration and an unhealthy environment for those who live there.
But where does mold thrive best? And how do you prevent being attacked?
According to Johanna Lindströmhouse expert at Anticimex, there must be moisture for mold to thrive, she says in an interview with Home & rent.
– It has to be moist for it to start growing. Also, there must be something to start growing in, some sort of organic material. In an apartment, it is common for it to start growing in the bathrooms, she says.
It is not only harmful to the home, but also to you as a resident. It is then important, according to Lindström, that the air can move freely and that you have functioning ventilation.
– You shouldn’t close the shutters at the windows or cover up gaps in doors where the air is supposed to pass, she tells Hem & hyra.

4 places where mold likes to grow
Wallpapers: It is not entirely unusual for the mold attack to start in the wallpaper, then in joints and corners.
Gypsum boards: As plasterboards are extra sensitive to moisture, mold can easily start right there if, for example, the moisture barrier in the bathroom is not tight.
Tile joints: It is not unusual for skin deposits to get stuck here and since it is organic, mold likes to get stuck. Wash immediately and thoroughly.
Joints: It may be necessary to re-joint as, for example, dust can stick to the joint around windows, bathrooms and sink areas.
