How serial cultivation can maximize your harvest: “Going by feel”

Serial cultivation can maximize your cultivation – and allows you to utilize your growing space and deliver harvest throughout the year.
And anyone can do it.
– We try to make it as simple as possible without stress, but still get as much out as possible, says cultivation inspiration Johannes Wätterbäck in Nyhetsmorgon.

If you have your own block or just a balcony box or pot to grow in, then you can maximize your cultivation enormously by serial cultivation. The authors and growing inspirations Theres Lundén and Johannes Wätterbäck have written the book: “Serial cultivation – get several vegetable harvests in the same season”. And they hope that more people will dare to test the method that works regardless of the season.

– There will simply be more harvest, says Theres Lundén in Nyhetsmorgon.

that’s how it goes

What differentiates serial farming from regular farming is that you try to get as much harvest as possible in one season and build several seasons in one season. The point is therefore that there is more harvest all year round and that you cultivate in the same place.

– In a pot you can grow garlic first, harvest it and then sow something else in the same pot with the same soil. I just add nutrition, says Johannes.

They point out that it is important to choose non-toxic nutrition, for example grass clippings. A common mistake people often make is to fertilize too little.

– If you start from a pallet collar, then we start sowing the spinach on the fourth of January on frosted soil. Then we harvest the spinach in May, then we get the big harvest, he says.

Teres continues:

– If we have been really efficient, we have grown plants in small batches. Then the plants have grown up a bit so they can be planted out.

In May, the pallet collar is therefore ready to be planted with new seedlings.

– For example kohlrabi, then we harvest it in July. Then we might plant coriander, dill or celery. We don’t think, we go by feeling or heart, says Johannes.

Dare to grow cold

They sow most things outdoors and advise to dare to grow in the cold. If you want to start now, potatoes are a perfect place to start.

– Harvest it in July or early August. Be sure to have some cabbage to plant in after and you’ll get two crops. You can jump into serial farming right now!

– Get started right away today and put in some seeds, says Teres.
