In the run-up to the start of the second division, GVVV coach Gery Vink said that his dream is always to become champion, even though his team is the PhD candidate at the highest amateur level in the Netherlands. The competition is now eight matches underway and the Veenendalers are ‘only’ four points behind the top position. After a mediocre start to the season, GVVV is now in a good flow, partly due to the conversion of the experienced Barry Maguire from midfielder to central defender.
