In many games, players can spend real money on cosmetic items called skins. The prices for the extras vary from a few euros to huge sums. But how much money would a single skin be worth to you at most?
Microtransactions in games are not unique. Through them, players can purchase in-game items. In addition to game content such as weapons or characters, so-called skins can also be purchased, i.e. cosmetic items that change characters within the game. As a rule, they do not give you a strategic advantage, but rather “pretty” your character.
Many skins can be unlocked with fictitious in-game currencies. Often the in-game money can be earned through specific tasks or challenges. Another option is often to pay for the skins with real money or to exchange the real currency for fictitious ones and thus make purchases.
The prices for skins can range from a few euros to several digits. Now we would like to know from you where your personal pain threshold is. You will find 2 surveys at the bottom of the article.
The reason we split the survey into two parts this time is to separate free-to-play games and paid titles. Because it makes a difference whether you already pay for the game itself and spend money on skins on top of that, or just play for free and then let off steam in the in-game shop.
Free games in which you can buy skins include Apex Legends, Overwatch 2 or CoD: Warzone. The paid titles include well-known games such as World of Warcraft or Elder Scroll Online.
