The gas crisis in Europe triggered by Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine has highlighted Europe’s dependence on undemocratic and militarily expansive countries.

China accounts for an increasing part of Sweden’s imports of goods. According to Björn Cappelin, analyst at the China Center, better knowledge is needed about how this increase affects Sweden’s conditions to react in terms of trade policy if China chooses to invade the democratic neighboring country of Taiwan.
