Nooralotta Neziri’s new coach is Matti Vyyryläinen, 73. Neziri decided that it makes sense to spend the rehabilitation period after the surgery in Finland.
Belonging to the elite elite of Finnish fast paddlers Nooralotta Nezirin the last two summers have been ruined by injuries. Neziri, who will turn 30 in November, has not thrown the ax down the drain, but is firmly aiming for at least the next two seasons.
Neziri made a surprising move for many when he changed his coach Matti Vyyryläinen73. For the last year or so, Neziri was coached by an Austrian Philipp Unfried.
– The reason is the surgery I had. It requires long rehabilitation and very precise work. I need a lot of medical services and physiotherapy in Finland. I saw that it makes sense in terms of continuing my career that I now have to be in my country, Neziri said.
In August, Nezir had a bone spike cut from his heel.
– At this point in my career, everything must be done on the condition that I compete next summer and the following summer and be able to return to the international level. You have to make hard decisions that may seem strange to outsiders.
Neziri was satisfied with Unfried’s coaching and coaching team. The end of the cooperation was not accompanied by drama.
– We discussed it in agreement and he understood the situation. He said that you can ask him for help and if necessary we can run camps together.
– It was a really nice training group, it’s unbelievable how much a training group can affect. Acid resistance and power levels improved a lot.
“We have pretty similar ideas about hurdles”
Now, however, a domestic coach was needed, but how exactly was Vyyryläinen selected?
– It was known that I would be moving back to Pori. Half by chance, I went to Mati for a membership repair. There we discussed hurdles. I knew that Mati has a hurdle background, but we didn’t know each other well. At home, I wondered how such a person had been hidden from me. We have pretty similar ideas about hurdles and training in general.
Vyyryläinen once ran high hurdles himself and worked as a hurdles coach at SUL.
At first, the cooperation did not progress to coaching. Neziri asked if Vyyryläinen could be his “watchful eyes” in Finland.
– When the idea matured that I should stay in Finland, we started to expand the discussions, Neziri said about the process.
So far, Neziri has done mostly rehabilitative exercise as a physical therapist Jarmo Ahonen under. When he gets to run in the next few weeks, more responsibility will be transferred to Vyyryläinen. Already tomorrow, we should be able to do a fence walk. It is already known that with Vyyryläinen there will be a strong focus on technology.
I’m aiming for the 2024 Olympics and European Championships
Adversities have not taken away Neziri’s motivation for training.
– It would be better to stop if you are not fully involved. I wouldn’t train if there was no motivation. It’s not even two years since I ran the indoor SE and missed the medals in the European Championships by one hundredth.
Neziri does not want to say anything more specific about next summer’s goals at this stage. He doesn’t compete during the reign, unless it’s some “smooth” race in the training mind.
The plan is to continue the career until at least the 2024 Paris Olympics. In the same summer, the European Championships in Rome will also take place.
– In Rome, it was supposed to fight for medals, Neziri decided.
