How good is Chloe Grace Moretzs periphery

It goes on seamlessly. The final episode of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power came out last week. This week Amazon Prime is adding the next series highlight: Periphery with Kick Ass star Chloë Grace Moretz. The sci-fi series was produced by none other than Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan, the brains behind the HBO hit Westworld. But is the long-awaited project worth it?

Storyline and Trailer: What is Periphery about?

The first two episodes have been available on Amazon Prime since Friday *. The remainder of the 8 episodes will air weekly every Friday through December 2nd when the season finale airs.

Peripherals – S01 Trailer (German)

The science fiction series Peripheral (originally: The Peripheral) takes place in a future where society has been transformed by technological advances. Here, a woman discovers an alternate reality and is confronted with a terrifying vision of the future.

It’s the year 2032: Flynne Fisher (Chloë Grace Moretz) is a young and ambitious woman trying to keep her family together in the Blue Ridge Mountains in the USA. She works in a 3D printer shop and earns extra money by playing virtual simulation games for rich people. One day she enters a virtual and futuristic world through a VR headset.

In the virtual London of the year 2099 She is supposed to break into the building of a company called Research Institute as a mission. But something is wrong with this environment. Flynne soon has to realize that this world is not a virtual creation at all, but the reality of the future.

Is peripherals worth it? How good is the sci-fi series?

Initial reactions to the two episodes have been mixed. At the review aggregator Meta-Critic, the collected reviews result in an average of 60 percent agreement. The Hollywood Reporter praises the big ideas, which, however, would hide under a plot that has been too twisted so far. The fan ratings on Rotten Tomatoes are slightly better at 72 percent. Not enough ratings have been given at Moviepilot, but user topsecret01 writes about his first impression:

You can tell that the makers of Westworld are there, visually excellent, you will see the story as it develops

For sci-fi fans it is definitely worth taking a look at the first two episodes Periphery!
