How does housing construction get out of the doldrums again

The municipality of Utrecht wants to qualify for the Startbouwimpuls with 16 housing projects. The largest project is the Merwedekanaal zone, where approximately 6,000 homes should be built in the coming years. The municipality has applied for a subsidy for almost 3,500 homes in this district. Another major project concerns the MARK in Leidsche Rijn, a high-rise plot with three towers of a maximum of 140 meters, higher than the Dom Tower. There should be a maximum of 1015 homes, the subsidy application is for 995 homes. The municipality wants money for the realization of 400 homes for De Kwekerij on the former KPN site near the Diakonessenhuis. The government is making a total of 300 million euros available.
