No need to bother with your wallet when you leave your home! It is possible to pay directly with your smartphone in many stores. We explain how to proceed.
A few years ago, paying with your smartphone was utopian. Today, it is commonplace in our society. Mobile payment is simple, fast and secure. It is done by placing your mobile phone on a bank card terminal. You must first install a payment application on your Android or iPhone smartphone, register the bank card to be used and identify yourself by biometrics (facial or digital recognition system). To pay with my smartphone, it is essential to activate the Near-Field Communication function, better known by the acronym NFC. Present on most mobile phones, NFC is a wireless communication technology that allows data to be exchanged between devices over a maximum distance of 10 cm.
In the case of a mobile payment, the NFC makes it possible to pay with my contactless smartphone, just like a bank card could do it. It is not mandatory to activate mobile data or Wi-Fi to pay with my smartphone. The main difference between NFC and a CB is the payment limit. Since May 10, 2020, the amount of contactless payment is limited to 50 euros with a bank card, which is not the case with a smartphone. Depending on the application used and the attached bank, it is possible to pay 50, 100 or 200 euros, or even much more with a smartphone. No additional costs are incurred during a mobile payment with NFC.
