How do I make up and dress up my child

This year, Mardi Gras is celebrated on March 1, 2022. To accompany his disguise, here are some ideas for putting on makeup, step by step. Tigers, lions, butterflies, fairies… The little ones put themselves in the shoes of their character!

Children love to dress up! Mardi Gras is therefore the perfect opportunity for toddlers to become the heroes of a day, which will be celebrated this year on March 1, 2022. Let them choose the character they would like to play, “they will then have fun doing role-playing games and trying out other identities“, explains Stéphane Valentin, psychologist. As an animal or a superhero, the children put themselves in the shoes of another. You can also disguise him as a pirate, a butterfly, a fairy, or a mermaid… But apart from question of skimping on make-up: it is essential to accompany the costume for your child and allow him to better embody his character, in particular by playing with facial expressions. Here are some tips and examples for making them up.

Animals always inspire young and old to Mardi Gras. By making up your child as a tiger or a ferocious lion, for example, he will take great pleasure in frightening those around him by roaring! Start with an orange and yellow base, and accentuate facial features with black stripes on the forehead, cheeks and chin. Without forgetting the nose and mustaches for a royal effect!

If you choose a makeup in the shape of a butterfly, you just need to make up only around the eyes, drawing the shape of the wings on each side. And on your child’s nose, a line for the body, a dot between the eyes for the head, and pretty antennae on the forehead. Opt for flashy colors and a few sequins for an exotic and magical butterfly!

How about turning your child into a little zebra? Original and easy to reproduce, your little one will be delighted with the result! Start by painting her face with a white base, then add some black stripes on the forehead, the top of the nose and the end of the cheeks. Without forgetting to draw a diamond encompassing the bottom of the nose and the mouth, for a wild effect. Finally, accompany this makeup with a black and white striped outfit and black gloves, to recall the animal’s hooves.

Children most often choose tiger makeup. To achieve it like a pro, use the orange and yellow colors and apply them on the face using a sponge. Then add white on the eye contour and draw hairs by blending on the top with a brush. Same thing around the mouth and on the cheeks. Finish with black around the eyes and paint the tip of the nose and the mouth the same color, adding a few touches for the hairs. Even if you don’t make up your child every day and this type of disguise remains exceptional, not all products are recommended for your child’s skin. Therefore, favor certified organic and hypoallergenic water-based makeup such as the Namaki makeup for example, which contains a palette of three colors, two different models and a brush. You will then have the choice between Fairy and mermaid, Pirate and ladybug or Zebra and tiger makeup. On sale at a price of 11.90 euros on the site, in some organic stores and toy stores for children, this natural make-up respects the skin of toddlers.
